St Aidan's Church of England (Voluntary Aided) First School (ie, Reception Year and Years 1 - 5) is part of the Shelley High School Pyramid. You would be very welcome to visit our school which is on Smithy Close, off Smithy Lane, Skelmanthorpe.

Admission

As at any and every school you will be asked some questions if you wish your child/ren to join us - but do not worry, we are here to help you; and we want to make any children with us feel at home!

We just need to know the name and date of birth of your child/ren; and their address, and your name and the name/s of any other adults who have responsibility for the child/ren. The current admission form of St Aidan's School also includes these questions:

1. Are there any medical/social reasons why the child should attend this school ? If so please give as full details as you can, including a sealed letter from the appropriate doctor (preferably a specialist rather than a GP) or social worker. If your child has a statement of special educational needs under the Education Act 1981, please visit the school before completing this form.
2. Has the child any sisters or brothers (including half-, step-, adoptive siblings) who will be registered as a pupil of this school at the proposed date of admission ?
3. Do the child's parents frequently worship at St Aidan's Church ?
4. Do the child's parents frequently worship at another Anglican Church ?
5. Are the child's parents, who live in Skelmanthorpe, active members of any non-Anglican Christian Church - in broad sympathy with the ethos and belief of the Parish Church (see below).
6. Are there any curricular features at this school which are sought and are not available at another school ?
7. Has the child been Baptised/Christened ?
8. Has the child previously attended a Church of England school ?

The Mission Statement of our parish is that:

• We exist to worship God in holiness and adoration.
• We proclaim that God totally and utterly loves every creature in the universe, no matter who or what they are, both in this life and in the life to come.
• We intend that this fact should be proclaimed by compassionate action: for, and with, the neighbour in our community; for our neighbour in distant places; and for all the other creatures we share this planet with.
