This page has been provided by the Parish of St Aidan as a supplement to the official school website
St Aidan's Church of England (Voluntary Aided) First School (ie, Reception Year and Years 1 - 5) is part of the Shelley High School Pyramid. You would be very welcome to visit our school which is on Smithy Close, off Smithy Lane, Skelmanthorpe.
Please come and look round, without obligation. We value your questions and interest.
We know that you want the best for your children: that they are happy, fulfilled and develop their full potential at school. We recognise that every child is unique, is of infinite value, and is loved by God.

Please contact Jan Roberts, the current Headteacher, or Mrs Ann Littlewood or Kathryn, School Administrators, on 01484 222951 or link to the school website St Aidan's School and e-mail from the "contact us" link there. Admission
As at any and every school you will be asked some questions if you wish your child/ren to join us - but do not worry, we are here to help you; and we want to make any children with us feel at home!
We just need to know the name and date of birth of your child/ren; and their address, and your name and the name/s of any other adults who have responsibility for the child/ren. The current admission form of St Aidan's School also includes these questions:
If you answer "Yes" to some of these questions you will be invited to give brief further details; we can help you if you wish.
The ethos of the Church of St Aidan
The ethos and belief of the Church of St Aidan , which relates to question 5 on the Admission Form (our school is a Church school), can be found to some extent on the website of the Church: www.thales.demon.co.uk (ie, please visit our home page and the supplementary pages)
As a further guide, please note..........
The Mission Statement of our parish is that:
We believe in one God: the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that God shares his something of his compassion and mercy through the love and continued prayers of Our Lady Mary, the Holy Mother of God, and St Aidan and all other Saints.
We believe that all people are equal in the eyes of God: and that all Christians are part of the "royal priesthood of all believers" supported by the priestly ministry of bishops, priests and deacons.
The Church of England understanding is that we approach truth through:
each of those sources being essential, and requiring one another.
The law of the Church of England is under the care of H.M. The Queen as Supreme Governor and Defender of the Faith.
These notes are only a guide to our "ethos and belief". Fuller statements can be found in the Creeds and liturgy of the C of E Prayer Book.
Though a Christian School: we recognise, with delight, that there is much of beauty, truth and value in other great world religions
